![]() Feels great playing it again - reminds me once again that is a damn shame this series hasn’t been resurrected. As I said, it seems tailor-made to take advantage of HDR. I’d love to get the opinion of a longtime fan of the series on the look. The ship feels extra oppressive and alien. Your suit HUD LEDs pierce the surrounding darkness with sterile harshness. The industrial-design aesthetic, paired with the atmospheric lighting system, really meshes with the new look: gloomy mechanical passageways seem even more unnerving pierced by that solitary, guiding light at the end of the corridor. I know the cohesive visual element is already one of the games strong suits, but it seems even more striking with this added feature. To my eyes Dead Space is a great example of that. Results may vary, but generally it works far better than it has any right to. If you don’t know, the XSX uses a type of machine-learning algorithm to auto-map SDR games into a HDR container, all without the need for developers to officially patch it. ![]() I’m surprised how nice this looks on the Series X with the consoles new Auto HDR feature.
